ROCKO WHEELER is a Texas-born troubadour. His first album, The Book of Rocko Wheeler, was inspired by his (mis)adventures on the road, following in the footsteps of Jack Kerouac and Bob Dylan, chasing the vision of making films in Los Angeles.
The Book of Rocko chronicles the metaphysical journey between growing up in a Southern Baptist minister’s home and roaming westward to Los Angeles, to the deserts between. The album was tracked live to tape at The Bomb Shelter with Andrija Tokic (Alabama Shakes, Hurray for the Riff Raff), Jon Estes (John Paul White), and jukebox man Joshua Hedley of Third Man Records.
HIS THIRD studio album was recorded at the famed John Prine-owned Butcher Shoppe in Nashville, TN with pedal steel legend Russ Pahl; Sean Sullivan (Sturgill Simpson, Margo Price) and Benjamin Lusk at the helm. It’s slated for release in early 2020.
“The Ghost Got Loose”, from his extended play, was selected by Floyd’s 99 as their major campaign smash, spinning the tune nationally, along with its parent record, Before the Continents Explode. The song features vocals from Kyshona Armstrong and was produced by Randall Kent.
Known for improvisational stories and live banter, Rocko traverses the United States annually, coast to coast, winning fans across state lines. Rocko currently lives in East Nashville.
